Mission & Origins

Mission

The Graduate Course of Mathematics aims at educating graduate students in specialties connected with mathematical sciences, so that they acquire the ability to do creative research activities on their own basis.

Origins

Since the foundation of the course in 1963, more than 300 people have graduated with a degree of master of science. Their current professions are, mostly, researchers, computer engineers and high school teachers.

Among all the intellectual pursuits of humankind, mathematics is the most old, the most new and the most exciting. Mathematics is an exact science that is based only upon logic. There are a huge number of theorems each equipped with a proof, making mathematics completely transparent, therefore useful in many aspects of human activities. Most of sciences, natural or human, are formed more or less upon mathematics, some using modern mathematics as fundamental tools.

Still today, mathematics is filled with problems that nobody knows the answers, despite the efforts of mathematicians day and night. Mathematical researches are one of the most challenging and integral activities of human beings. Please come and join us with this challenge, by attacking high peeks of mathematics, or struggling for epoch making technologies of computer sciences.

Courses

The course is formed of professors of a wide range of specialties, not only pure mathematics but also computer-aided applied mathematics. They are all eminent researchers of the fields, some of them worldwide recognized. We prepare various lectures covering virtually all fields of mathematical sciences. The number of students in each lecture is quite small, so that they are guided intimately.

Characteristic of the course is the education on individual basis. Students are divided into small groups according to their specialties and are supervised by professors. Professors organize seminars each weak, and give personal advice to each student. Students are free to make questions to professors at any time.

Our library possesses a large number of books and journals, as well as access to most of the electric journals of the field, which is extremely helpful for research activities. Our computer laboratory is equipped with high performance computers available to students. They can be effectively used for many purposes.
