International student scholarship list : CST

This list indicates the scholarships that were available for international students between June 2006 and July 2007. For the latest information on scholarship programs, please contact the Student Affairs Division.

Heiwa Nakajima Foundation Foreign Scholar Student	100,000 for under graduate: 120,000 for graduate	For graduate and undergraduate. Applicant is disqualified unless finishing the course within the shortest course term in previous year(s).
Honjo International Scholarship Foundation Foreign Scholar Student	200,000 for 2 years or 150,000 for 3years	Applicant in doctoral course born on or after March 31, 1971. Applicant in masters course born on or after March 31, 1976. Applicant must promise to work in their own country after graduation. Also, applicant is expected to understand and contribute to international amity.
The Asian Foundation for International Scholarship Interchange Kawaguchi Shizuka Kinen Shogakusei	60,000 for undergraduate For graduate: 60,000 for master course; 70,000 for doctoral course.	Applicant must be of Asian nationality under 35 years of age for a graduate and under 30 years of age for an undergraduate when application is made.
Japan Tobacco Inc. JT Asia Scholarship	150,000 for graduate	Applicant must be of Asian nationality under 35 years of age as of April 1, 2007.
Kyoritsu International Foundation Scholar	60,00 for Junior college; 100,000 for undergraduate or graduate	Applicant must have an Asian nationality, and expected to join our international amity activities. Also, required from April 2007, the rest of applicant's study course is to be more than 2 years.
Tsuzuki International Scholarship Foundation Foreign scholar	65,000 for undergraduate; 80,000 for graduate	Applicant must have English as a mother tongue, and should have a teaching profession in Japan after completion or graduating the course.
Sato International Scholarship Foundation (SISF)	120,000 for undergraduate; 180,000 for graduate	Applicant must have an Asian nationality(Republic of Korea or People's Republic of China not eligible) and should attend our amity programs. Also, parent(s) must not work in Japan. Anyone who has a doctorial degree is not permitted.
Mitsubishi Corporation Foreign Scholar	100,000 for undergraduate, including freshman; 100,000 for graduate.	As of April 2007, applicant must be registered in undergraduate or graduate courses as a full-time student.
Kambayashi Scholarship	100,000 for graduate	Applicant must have an East Asian or Southeast Asian nationality.
Tsuji Asia Scholarship Foundation	100,000 for junior, senior and graduate	Applicant must be a privately-financed overseas student having an Asian nationality other than Japanese.
Kawashima Shoji Memorial Scholarship Scholar	100,000 for undergraduate and graduate	Applicant must be a student in undergraduate or graduate course.
Asahi Glass Scholarship Foundation	90,000 for the first year of master course and for the doctoral course	Applicant must be a national of either Thailand, Indonesia or People's Republic of China.

The Korean Scholarship Foundation	25,000 for junior college/undergraduate For graduate: Master 40.000 Doctoral 50,000	Applicant must be a national of Republic of Korea or D.P.R.K., and under 30 years of age for junior college or undergraduate, under 40 years of age for graduate.
Hirose International Scholarship Foreign Scholar	100,000 for junior, senior and graduate	Applicant must be privately-financed and 35 years of age or younger, being a national of an Asian country, and should attend scholarship student amity activities (4 times a year including 1 trip).
Japan Educational Exchanges and Services Docomo Scholarship Student	120,000	Applicant must be registered in the first year of masters course in and after April 2007, and from a country or region our foundation has specified.
Takayama International Education Foundation Scholar	500,000 for freshman	Applicant must be under 30 years of age, being a foreign national (Asian in principle).
Ibuka Masaru Memorial Scholarship Foundation	150,000 for undergraduate	Applicant must be a freshman in undergraduate course, sufficiently fluent in Japanese to speak his/her opinions.
Nakamura Scholarship	87,000 for 2 years of masters course	Applicant must be a privately-financed student from a country which has diplomatic relations with Japan. (Should start in April.)
Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) Privately-financed Foreign Student Scholarship	50,000 for undergraduate; 70,000 for graduate	Applicant is disqualified if any of the following conditions are applicable: (1) An overseas-student who qualifies for the agreement between Nihon University and Embassy of Republic of Korea in Japan; (2) Held over or their performance is less than average; (3) Parent's average financial support is 90,000 Yen or more per month; (4) Annual income of guardian in Japan exceeds 5 million Yen; (5) Spouse living together with is a government-financed foreign student; (6) The grade point average of previous year is under 1.80 for doctoral course, or under 1.50 for undergraduate.
Japan Educational Exchange and Services General Scholarship	30,000 for sophomore, junior, senior and graduate	Applicant must have grade point average of previous year equal to or higher than 2.60 and be eager to join volunteer activities and/or international amity programs.
JGC-S Scholarship Foundation	250,000 annually	Applicant must be privately-financed and registered in graduate or undergraduate Science & Technology course.

Kashiyama Shogaku Zaidan Scholar	100,000	As of September 2006, applicant must be a privately-financed junior or senior or graduate school student and should have started their study since freshman as undergraduate. Applicant must attend our national meeting on the day scholarship is granted.
Akimoto Tatsunoko International Scholarship Foundation Foreign Scholar	150,000 for undergraduate	Applicant must be an Asian national under 35 years of age as of April 1, 2007, privately-financed, and registered in undergraduate course.
Makita Scholarship Foundation	100,000 for graduate	Applicant must be under 35 years of age when the application is handed in, registered in the first year of doctoral course, and a prospect to study in second year as of April 1, 2007.
The Tokushukai Scholarship Foundation	100,000	Applicant must be registered in undergraduate course and have passed the 2 level of Japanese Language Proficiency Test or have equivalent Japanese language ability.
Nihon University 100th Anniversary of Foundation International Student Scholarship	Equivalent to tuition fees	Applicant must meet the following conditions: (1) registered as a full-time foreign student in junior college, undergraduate or graduate course; (2) in academic year of 2007, applicant does not receive more than 720,000 yen total for graduate or 480,000 yen total for junior college/undergraduate as scholarship or the like from any institute other than Nihon University or any private organization. Student granted this 100 anniversary scholarship is disqualified for tuition fee exemption as a privately-financed foreign student.
Interchange Association, Japan (IAJ)	172,000 for graduate	Applicant must be under 35 years of age, have a passport issued by Republic of China (Taiwan), and be registered in graduate school as a full-time student as of April 1, 2007.
Iwatani International Scholarship Scholar	150,000 for graduate	Applicant must be registered or admitted to graduate school, be a privately-financed student from East Asian or South-East Asian country, and, as of April 1, 2007, be under 30 years of age for masters course or under 35 years of age for doctoral course.
Hasegawa International Scholarship Foundation Foreign Scholar	50,000 for junior college, undergraduate and graduate	Applicant must have an address in the Tokyo metropolitan area and be an international student from an Asian country.
Tokyo Gakusei Koyoshu Kyogikai International Scholar	50,000 for undergraduate and graduate	Applicant must be under 35 years of age as of April 1, 2007, a privately-financed student from an Asian country, registered as a freshman, sophomore or junior in undergraduate or 1st year of masters course or 1st or 2nd year of doctoral course. Also, candidate must have part-time work experience in Japan for at least 30 days.

Tuition Assistance

There is a tuition assistance program offering 30% reduction for foreign students in the Graduate School of Science and Technology who are studying at their own expense. To check your eligibility, Please contact the Student Affairs Section of CST.

Teaching Assistant System

Graduate students including foreign students, with outstanding academic achievements have the opportunity to work as teaching assistants. A teaching stipend is provided, and the experience gained prepares graduate students for future teaching and research, as well as enables more individualized instruction in various undergraduate departments.
